Curious about composting? Need some troubleshooting tips for your stagnant compost bin? Whether you have questions about your current system or are looking to start one at home, the Rethink Waste Project can help you get the most out of your backyard composting.
“There are a lot of options now when it comes to composting locally”, said Denise Rowcroft, Sustainability Educator for The Environmental Center and coordinator for their Rethink Waste Project. “We can help fit the right composting system with the individual, according to lifestyle and budget. There are pros and cons to every system and it helps to know what you’re getting into so you find the best system from the beginning.”
The Rethink Waste Project invites you to stop by Happy Hour in the Garden any Wednesday in June to enjoy a beer and get the information you need to kick start your backyard composting! Environmental Center staff will be on hand for a casual Q&A in the compost demonstration area of the Kansas Avenue Learning Garden. Happy Hour in the Garden will be every Wednesday in June, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Denise adds “People often stop composting when they hit a road block, like their bin smells or it’s not decomposing fast enough. These obstacles can usually be remedied pretty easily with a few tips”. Come with your questions or just stop by and learn a few tips. The Kansas Avenue Learning Garden is next door to The Environmental Center, located at 16 NW Kansas Avenue in Bend.
